Start With The Junk!
Spring cleaning can be a daunting task, especially if you are hoping to clean the entire house, or even the entire yard. The best place to start to make things more manageable is to get rid of the junk first. Garbage, unwanted items, extra furniture, broken appliances, and other items that are taking up tons of space are the things that are making most of the mess. The good news is they are the easiest to ‘clean’!
Most of the belongings in your house you need to take out, dust, move back, reorganize, etc but the junk is just one step – get rid of it! By getting rid of these items right off the bat you have more room to work with and a motivating feeling of accomplishment immediately.
Work From Top To Bottom
This goes for any kind of cleaning, keep top to bottom in mind! It doesn’t make sense to dust your furniture then the light fixtures after, because the from your light fixtures will fall onto the furniture. While that example is fairly obvious you should keep top to bottom in mind all the time. For example, clean up your outdoors before your indoors. Nothing is worse than having a totally clean living room just to have it ruined by dirty shoes!
Stay Clean!
Stay clean by not only getting everything in order, but coming up with a system to keep it clean. This might including making a chore wheel for the kids, so that they can help keep the house in order. It could also mean trashing the old lawnmower that leaks oil all over the garage and getting a new one to replace it.
Invest In Organization
Having some extra empty space if one of the best ways to keep everything clean. Imagine if you had enough drawers in your room, there would never be anything on the floor. Or if you had enough garage space, there would never be anything laying around the yard. Once storage fills up is a big problem for staying clean. But remember building too much storage can look messy! A lot of the time the trick is to let go of things you don’t need.
